Two held for dacoity

February 1, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: H.D. Kote Town Police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in dacoity cases reported on Mysuru-Manandavadi Road, yesterday.

The Police said that the accused used to waylay the Kerala-bound vehicle during the night hours and rob the passengers of their valuables and cash. In one such incident, the accused, along with other two accomplices, had intercepted a vehicle transporting ginger from a Haadanuru village in Sargur taluk on Jan. 25 and had robbed driver Vinod and Rashid, both residents of Pulpally, a town in Wayanad in Kerala. When the duo said they had no cash, the accused threatened them and asked them to transfer the money digitally.

Based on the complaint filed by Vinod and Rashid, the Police registered a case, traced the mobile number and arrested the accused, residents of Kolagala village. Both were remanded to judicial custody by the jurisdictional Court. The Police are yet to nab the other two accused, who are at large.

It may be noted that a video of miscreants waylaying a Tamil Nadu-registered lorry on Nanjangud Road had gone viral. It is suspected that the same group might have been involved  in the incident. The team, led by H.D. Kote Circle Police Inspector Shabbir Hussain, comprising SI Suresh Nayak, Head Constable Jagadish and staff members Mahadev Swamy, Syed Kabiruddin, Mohan, Yogesh and Ritish, was involved in the nabbing operation.
