Even before he bacame the CM, Bommai was seen as a mere fat toad with no mass appeal, not even in the Lingayat belt of the arid forner Maharashtra regions which joined for the Karnataka creation.
Yedi, the R Cheddi, wanted to rule for a few more years, before passing the power over to his son.
Interesting that Modi ridicules Gandhi dynasty, when his brother Prahlad Modi, gets privileges unprecedented in Gujarat, amd Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah is the real Gujarat C|M, even though he is not even a MLA there, but wields enormous power.
Interesting also that the above scoundrel, the Union Minister, could not blame Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and fat Nadda who camped for days in Karnataka, ran large rallies, addressing voters in large numbers, which had no effect at all! So, Modi had no influence at all, and the blame should be directed at him and Amit Shah.
If Congress runs the Lok Sabha election campaign as good as the state election campaign with the involvement of Sinia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka, , mamy BJP MPs will lose. The BJP loss will have such an effect that the BJP Rajya Sabha member and the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who has no connection to Karnataka and yet was elected to Rajya Sabha from Karnatka, will go too in the near future, if she cannot find another Rajya Sabha seat. She could not find a constituency in the Tamil Nadu, as she had no political base there.
If Siddaramaiah and the Congress implement their priorities named like the rice support, cash support etc.. to families, then the BJP will not come back to power in the near future.
What the BJP lost was the Lingayat votes to Congress. What the JD(S) lost was Vokkaliga votes to Congress. The free give aways that Congress promised worked so well, and reduced Modi’s influence to Nothing. Yedi the RSS Cheddi’s influence was morginal.

BJP’s demise started with Santosh at the helm and sidelining Yediyurappa, then snowballed with Eshwarappa, Shettar, Savadi ticket denial. Also Bommai was no match for Siddaramaiah and DKS when it comes to running an election campaign. I believe there is an understanding between Yediyurappa and Siddaramaiah to enjoy the power to each other every 5 yrs. When Congress had to give up CM post to JDS, Siddaramaiah made his followers go to BJP and made Yedi as CM. Now Yedi made so many BJP contestants lose (ex Sommanna, CT Ravi even Renukacharya, and Shimoga candidate, host of others in North Karnataka) handed over the CM post to Siddaramaiah. BJP knows this and unless they project Yedi son as CM or DCM for the next assembly election, it will never come to power.
