Workshop on ‘Script to Screen’ held

February 18, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Chetan Mundadi, Film Director, whose directorial debut ‘Madipu’ received ‘National Award for Best Feature Film’ (Tulu), was the chief guest for the workshop ‘Script to Screen: a cinematic experience’ held at St. Philomena’s College in Bannimantap recently.

This workshop was jointly organised by PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in association with B.Voc Media and Entertainment of St. Philomena’s College.

Speaking on the occasion, Chetan Mundadi emphasised the significance of narrative in cinema and said that there are two types of cinema — one that you see and the other that stay. He stressed  that it is the latter movies that bring social change.

Encouraging the student community, he asked them to be expressive and experimental in their approach to cinema.

The workshop, conceived, organised and implemented by 3rd  Semester MA in Journalism & Mass Communication students as a practical component of their ‘Event Management’ course, serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it offers students a platform to grasp the intricacies of event management, enriching their practical knowledge. Secondly, it provided them with an opportunity to listen to an eminent speaker.

St. Philomena’s Institutions Rector/Manager Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Principal Dr. Ravi J.D. Saldanha, PG Director Prof. Othbert Pinto, Head of PG Department of Journalism Dr. M.K. Venugopala Gowda, UG Department of Journalism Head Dr. Yamuna B. Raj, B Voc. Media and Entertainment Head Raviraj I. Vadigere and others were present during the event.
