Champions of MUIC 94th Athletics Meet

More than 850 students took part in the Mysore University Inter-College (MUIC) 94th Annual Athletics Meet 2023-24 for Men and Women, conducted by the Department of Physical Education (DPE), University of Mysore (UoM), from Dec. 7 to 9 at the Oval Grounds in city.

The Women Section Best Athlete of the 94th Annual Athletic Meet for the year 2023-24 title was bagged by D.J. Kavya, a student of GFGC for Women, Hassan (100 mts Race – 12.92 sec.) with 787 points.

The Women Section Overall Team Championship was won by Teresian College, Mysuru, with 82 points, the Runner-up Championship by PRM Vijaya First Grade College, T. Narasipur, with 76 points and 2nd Runner-up place was taken by GFGC, Siddarthanagar, Mysuru, with 28 points.

In Men’s Section, Best Athlete of the 94th Annual Athletic Meet for the year 2023-24 title was won by B. Mahanth, Post Graduate Sports Council,

Manasagangothri, Mysuru — PGSC MGM — (Triple Jump – 15.29 mts) with 954 points.

The Men Section Overall Team Championship was won by PGSC MGM with 60 points, Runner-up Championship by Government Science College (Autonomous), Hassan, with 43 points and 2nd Runner-up by SBRR Mahajana First Grade College (MFGC), Mysuru, with 28 points.

Winners of various sports events were awarded prizes at the valedictory on Dec. 9 in the presence of Prof. B.S. Vishwanath, retired Professor and Sports Committee Member, UoM, Dr. T.R. Chandrashekar, Syndicate Member, UoM, Gokul Govardhan, Syndicate Member, UoM, Amshi Prasannakumar, Journalist and Sports Committee Member of the UoM and Dr. C. Venkatesh, Director, DPE, UoM.

The three-day Annual Meet was inaugurated on Dec. 7 by Prof. N.K. Lokanath, Vice-Chancellor, UoM, by releasing a pigeon in the presence of V.R. Shylaja, Registrar, UoM, Dr. C. Venkatesh, Director, DPE, UoM, Dr. P. Krishnaiah, Deputy Director, DPE, UoM and Physical Education Directors of various Colleges and participants. The event was coordinated by T.S. Ravi, Yoga Coach, UoM.
